RE: Gold Medal Ceremony 10 Mar 10

Marcy,

I'm so glad to hear that Sara is coming (I hope she can)!!!

They are reserving the Capitol Rotunda for each WASP and one family member, and the rest of us will be in different rooms with live feed for the event (assuming the Rotunda is full).

As I understand it, you need a ticket. Go to http://www.womensmemorial.org/ and click on the FiFi in the lower left corner for details. If you go into the link to the listing of Q&As, you will see the following:

"I am not a WASP or a family member of a WASP. Can I attend the ceremony? Information regarding additional tickets is not available at this time. You may, however, submit your request to wasp@womensmemorial.org and we will forward it to the appropriate office for consideration."

Jan Goodrum said she arranged for me to get a ticket, so I assume she did it through this process.

By the way, we heard from Nicole Malachowski today with the following request:

"Ladies,

"I am hoping for your support in advertising an opportunity to help ensure the upcoming Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony (slated for 10 March) happens in a way fitting to these heroines and their contributions to women in aviation.

"Can you please advertise the following website to your WMA members?:

www.flygirls.org "Please help 'HONOR THE WASP' by supporting this Congressional Gold Medal Celebration with your tax deductible donation. 100% of the funds raised will be used for the cost of the WASP individual medals, the costs of meals, transportation and other logistical support. Your help will go a long way toward making this event successful." (website quote)

"We will take any donation, from any individuals or organizations/corporations. Any and all help is appreciated. Also, please feel free to forward this to anyone you think would be interested in helping these heroines of America's Greatest Generation. There is a sense of urgency to this, as we've only got 30 days to plan this very large event. Thank you for your consideration. As always, I'm grateful for any support you can provide me in this effort to honor our WASP!"

Looking forward to seeing you there!!!
Trish

Trish, do you know if this is by invitation only? Can us old WMA folks go? I just talked to Sara - she's coming if she can.
