RE: Update

Col. Puckett,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

Is there a way that you could tell me OFF THE RECORD what would be the best approach to have the military drop the charges? Working with several groups to pressure the military to end this drumhead trial, and our understanding is that MG Cleveland could end it but will not despite numerous attempts. Several well-connected officials advised us to pressure SOCOM, but SOCOMCENT is part of CENTCOM's chain of command. We are leaning towards an effort of polite, professional, fact-based correspondence directed at Gen. Petraeus who is CO of CENTCOM.

Do you have a better suggestion? And if you can't advise me on this, either due to trust or because of legal issues (both of which I understand), could you point me to someone who could advise us on this matter? Bear in mind that I have nothing to gain from this, just one veteran doing what he can to help a few SEALs - and ultimately help preserve our freedom.

Best regards,
Chris Carter

Mr. Carter,
Your questions are good ones.  Unfortunately, I am ethically prohibited from commenting on the evidence in a pending case.  The only question I can address is the one about why the deposition was canceled.  We do not know.  We just know that there will be no separate deposition in the case.  We also know that the Huertas and Keefe cases are scheduled for the month of April in Baghdad and the McCabe case is scheduled for May 3rd in Norfolk.  Presumably the insurgent would be produced in court in Baghdad for the other two trials.
Sorry we don't have more information for you.
