I figured I would field your question: It would appear that Symantec's DeepSight Threat Management leverages information collected and correlated by a global sensor network of devices in-network (behind the firewall). This is information about vulnerabilities or attacks that have been "foiled" or blocked by a security system (firewall, AV or IDS/IPS) in place. I would imagine this system is very similar to the TrustedSource model created by CypherTrust subsequently acquired by McAffee. Our intelligence is derived from a reverse engineering of specific malware binaries that utilize fast-flux DNS to communicate with their command and control servers. We determine the domains used (or intended to be used) to facilitate the communication, redirect the traffic from those domains to our sinkhole (honeynet) infrastructure and report on a near real-time basis what attack has been "successfully" executed and usurped existing systems. This allows us our zero false-positive capability. So in short our intelligence is not coming from anomalous or signatured traffic within a network "thought" to be a malicious or verified threat that has been stopped. It is intelligence on threats that are confirmed and have successfully breached the client's network to "post" payload or "get" other binaries. I see the above Symantec product as an excellent complement or supplement to our solution which would provide a client with a holistic view of their security state.
