Because people were having problems signing on, I went ahead and hand-registered 10 people today.  That's the most I can do per day.  We now have 17 members on the mi-warriors list serve. I added Ian Lyngklip as well.  He graduated with me this past August, but was not in this list.  I will not be adding Hal because he asked not to be included; emails will need to be sent to him separately.  I will add everyone else shortly, and then we can use it if there's a group consensus to do so.  Anyone who wishes to be removed can just send me an email, or sign on and remove yourself.

Also, I'm assuming everyone is on the f-warriors alumni list, so maybe you saw this already, but I thought this was a great model for what we can do in the future.  Here is the very ambitious monthly meeting itinerary for a Texas group:

Day 1:

Client warm-up, interview and introducing the client to us. (Purposes and techniques, diamond of decision or angle of opportunity)

Scene setting, (using the 7 scenes to set a scene, the rule of 3, how to never change the set throughout the trial and risk losing the jury, what to do when the Judge won’t let you get your client off the stand)

Role Reversal, (including role learning, role expansion, and role becoming)

Doubling, (including emotional profiling of witnesses and client or Judge or officer, or other, Satten slide vs. East coast method, getting to the trauma without getting into it)

Soliloquy, (including how to use hearsay to make your case better, intuition)

Mirroring, (including how others may see the emotion behind the story)

Discovering the villain, (including the introduction of the villain)

SAFELY discovering the emotion behind the story, (how and why)

Day 2 or sooner; Using the above techniques to build the group

Showing the mind and the body,

Watching the trial as we put it on;

Social atom, (how and why to use it)

New and exciting storytelling techniques

Discovering the client’s emotion behind the story

Effective yet inexpensive focus groups

New frontiers with new techniques and mental health folks

Sciodrama vs. Psychodrama vs. Crossing over the line, (a prelude to “Reptile” in the small case)

“Reptile method” for small cases

Day 3 or sooner; Working on our case

So there you have it, oh yea, by the way,, it’s free.

Each of our group members will be showing you ours.

We will try and show a criminal case and a civil case and how to on each technique.

One final thing.  Friday I have a client coming in from Florida to work on his case being prepared for trial.  It is of course a (relatively simple) DUI case.  Please let me know if any of you might be interested in joining me.  If the group gets too large, we may move the location, but for now it's downtown Birmingham.  Ian will be joining me, and we will be having breakfast at Beverly Hills Grill, then driving to my office to work with client.  Everyone is welcome.

It’s great to get some feedback.

Unlike Hal I’m a member of several Yahoo listserves and have never had a problem, but if the consensus is we want a listserve but don’t want Yahoo, then I can look into other options.  Yahoo is just simplest to set up.  As for Bart, for whatever reason, he was not able to sign-in with any of his IDs.  And, lest any of you think so, it has nothing to do with his computer “literacy”, but seems a quirk with Yahoo.  Just another reason for plummeting stock value I suppose.  Anyone else have a problem?

So far about ¼ of us have signed on.  I only suggested this for ease of use, but it’s up to all of you if you want to use it.

I think this is a fantastic idea.  Thanks for putting it together Keeley.  I am up for meeting in Lansing or we can rotate locations although I doubt I'd drive up to your neck of the woods even though I love both you and Josh.  Keeping the meeting dates on same time each month is the best way to do it.

A head's up on future local event.  Mark your calendars for March 23-25, 2012.  Louise Lipman, psychodramatist from TLC, will come to Detroit area for a psychodrama director's weekend.  Patrick Barone, Marj and myself organized one a few months ago and it was a great success.  We did personal psychodramas and we each directed each others drama under Louise's supervision.  Louise is a great teacher and we all learned a lot in how to direct and about ourselves when we were protagonist.  I'd like to keep it limited to TLC grads with a max of 15 people.  A PD group doesn't work so well with larger groups.

Hello Michigan TLC Alums!

After graduating from the Trial Lawyers College in July, I wanted to see if we could get a local group formed in Michigan to meet regularly and work up cases.  I know that there is interest out there from our more recent alums in forming a group.  I think I have included all of the Michigan alums in this email, but if you know of any other TLC grads I missed, please let me know.

In speaking with our regional F Warrior board member, she suggested that we schedule our local group for the last Friday of each month, which is what a large portion of the local TLC groups are trying to do.  I would propose the following schedule:

January 27, 2012
February 24, 2012
March 30, 2012
April 27, 2012
May 25, 2012
June 29, 2012
July 27, 2012
August 31, 2012
September 28, 2012
October 26, 2012
November 30, 2012
December 14, 2012

With the holidays approaching, I didn't think it was a good idea to get the group started in November or December of this year.  Also, December's group next year would be early so as to avoid conflicts with the Christmas schedule.

I'm hoping that we could find a location to meet in Lansing, since it seems to be a central location for our group.  When Marj Russell returns from vacation, perhaps she could tell us whether space might be available at Cooley.

As far as meeting times, I am looking for input from all of you about what would be most convenient.

Please let me know if you are interested in putting together a local group, and if you have any input on the proposed dates, the meeting times, etc.
