Re: Letter for Sam

We gained vital information from Sam. Sam talked to the local population everyday. We were able to get information from the locals and most of them trusted Sam. Initially I was very suspious of the Iraqis working in our bizzare or store. I wanted to move them off the base camp but Sam made friends with those guys and we got a lot of information from them.

The bolo list was a list of vehicles that were associated with bad guys. We put this information out everyday so our Soldiers could stop these vehicles and stop the bad guys. Sam was out on patrols with us so we gave him this information everyday. The list consisted of color of vehicles. Tag numbers and who was driving it. This list was very long maybe 10 to 20 vehicles a day so each soldier had to write them down. To many to memorize. This information was not something that could affect US interest. I heard what they read in court. There was no military information such as US vehicle numbers or dates or times. Nothing that could have been used against the us military.

Sergeant Major,
After the your testimony at trial you told me that you remembered what the information in Sam's green notebook referred to.   You said it was a BOLA and not sensitive. I need you to clarify what you mean by that.  The government is arguing to the judge that it was sensitive information. Would you please email me back your explanation of that information and what a BOLA is? You can do it by responding to this email.

Thank you Sergeant Major.

It's light but readable and outstanding. I am not sure how this will come out. Whatever happens I know that Sam is good and honorable man because of honorable and courageous men like you.

SGM Coleman,

I hope this finds you well.  Is there any way I can get you to write the letter?  Our hearing is this Thursday.  Sam could use your help.
