RE: Douglas Wacker Case Follow Up

Any thoughts on this?

I may have met Matt while I was a 3L (he would have been a 1L), but I don't remember him. I don't know if he is friends with my ex-girlfriend, Katharine Tremblay, who would also be a 3L this year. I haven't talked to anyone at USD since 2009.

I'm glad to hear that there is support for me within the law students.

I talked to my brother and we concluded that it is best to await the clemency decision before going to the school. This however may be an opportunity to drum up support in a new way. I just want to be careful how to approach it.

		Message Body:
		Hello,

I am a graduating law student at the Univeristy of San Diego. I saw that your client, Douglas Wacker was recently acquitted of rape charges. I remember that our university had suspended him and withheld his law degree due to the accusation. I am assuming they also prohibited him from walking at graduation.

I was wondering if he had ever been given his degree and if the school has given him the opportunity to walk. I believe, now that his name has been cleared, he should be given the opportunity to walk. I am willing to contact the Dean and personally request he be given such opportunity.

If he were to be denied the right to walk at the graduation ceremony after having his name cleared, I would refuse to walk.

Please relay this message to him if you are able to and if he is interested in talking to me. I understand he likely wants to put this issue behind him.

		Thank you,

		Matt Belardes
