There is Supreme Court case law holding that a defendant doesn't have a
constitutional right to be present at an appellate argument. Obviously it
would be very difficult for states if they had to transport prisoners to attend
oral arguments in their cases.

Sir,
HA. Gannon told me the denial was forthcoming and
said there was "some Supreme Court case law on point." He didn't
enlighten me and I haven't had a chance to go look for it myself yet
today.

SSgt, The government denied the request for
funded travel to CAAF. I haven't seen the official denial correspondence
yet. I will talk to the other attorneys and figure out if there is
anything that can be done. R.

Ma'am, I spoke with Neal a few weeks ago
about going out to DC to be there for the oral arguments regarding my appeal
at CAAF. He said he thought it would be a good idea for me to be there, but
I'm not sure if he had talked to you yet about it. He told me you (or your
clerk) would be setting up my DTS request and would be issuing TAD orders. I'm
not sure if this is still the plan, so I just wanted to get in touch with you
since it's only a couple weeks away. Thanks.
Respectfully, SSgt Wuterich Billeting
