A little about me: I took this job at the San Diego Union-Tribune in February. I do most of the Marine Corps coverage here. I spent six weeks in Afghanistan with the Marines in August-September, and I am returning for another six week trip in mid February. Before moving to San Diego I was based in Dallas, Texas, where I wrote for the New York Times, Newsweek magazine, and other publications, and covered Army issues. As a staff writer for the Dallas Morning News I did several reporting trips to Iraq. I also used to live in Cairo, Egypt.
