The American Arab Chamber of Commerce hosted a roundtable discussion with Sen. Stabenow
Thursday, October 21, in Dearborn. The discussion, which is by invitation only to
chamber members, was part of the American Arab Chamber Chairman's roundtable. Sen.
Stabenow said the new legislation, the Small Business Job Act, will cut taxes for
small businesses, increase access to capital and help small companies sell their
products overseas.
"This was a very informative session," said American Arab Chamber Chairman Ahmad
Chebbani. "Promoting export are important segments of rebuilding our economy."
The bill, which became a law in September, provides $30 billion to partner with
community banks to increase small business lending, which translates into $300 billion
available for loans to America's small businesses.
"Increasing access to capital is vital to small businesses," said Chamber Executive
Director Fay Beydoun. "We urge our local banks to work in partnership with our small
business community."

AACC Chairman Ahmad Chebbani Speaks at the U.S. International Export Conference
AACC Chairman Ahmad Chebbani
American Arab Chamber of Commerce Chairman Ahmad Chebbani discussed opportunities
and challenges to doing business in the Middle East in a panel discussion on October
26 in Detroit at the International North America's Premier 2010 International Trade
Conference.
The Middle East includes more than 25 countries, about 350 million people and vast
opportunities for commerce and business, Chairman Chebbani said. Most countries
want to diversify their economies away from oil and have been trying to integrate
into the global market, fostering more trade, creating free zones and regional business
groups. "It's a great and a diverse market for exporting and investing," he said.
The three-day conference featured world-renowned business leaders, high-level government
officials, and speakers from leading think tanks and academic institutions.

Both Rumzei and Ali are staff members at Plante & Moran, a public accounting and
business advisory firm.
Rumzei is a Certified Public Accountant and has three years of experience in providing
