Staff Sergeant, You can contact me at any time. My work line is 858-577-1720. ALSO, because I trust you not do anything wacky with it, I will give you my personal cell. Please call me on that if you need to. That number is 843-368-7180. Please feel honored because I have only ever given my personal cell number to a client one other time in my career. I am in court all day today on motions for another case. But, I am happy to discuss this issue with you and come up with a solution. We can try to touch base this evening after I get out of court. Or, tomorrow, after I finish up at the armory. (I am on the pistol range next week). I feel dumb for asking this, but what is my military attorney's name and number? I wanted to get in touch with her about my command and maybe notifying them that starting 23 Aug I'll be busy with trial prep. I've spoken to my command and they want a detailed list of times and places I'll be, which there isn't really anyway to predict when exactly you will need me, but maybe she can talk to my chain of command about it. Any thoughts on your end? Please find the document attached titled "CAR Justifications" for a paragraph on each of the Marines listed in the matrix. The document is long and detailed, but each paragraph is begun with the last name of the person whose actions it describes. It's been a long time, but to the best of my memory, the events described are true and sufficient for the CAR. Many apologies from me to the Marines whose awards and "stacks" have been deficient due to events out of our control. I hope to make things right with this small effort. Respectfully, KXO Steve, you are a man among men. Such an administrative task would have crippled lesser. In all seriousness, thanks for helping with something that did not even concern you beyond being a worthy and proud member of the Thundering Third. I think you deserve a CAR for the admin battle. Let me know if this doesn't pass muster for some reason. Thanks again. Check out the attachment "kilo CAR history & comments", the comment by CIV Linda Brown. Adam, the writeups you gave me summarized the several different events that happened that day and the Marines involved in each of those events, but not what each Marine did as part of that event to specifically warrant a CAR. From what I understand, Mrs. Brown (2d MARDIV G-1 AWARDS) needs to have a paragraph on each individual on the matrix specifically outlining what that Marine did during that event to warrant a CAR. I can't do that because I just don't know. If you all can make some phone calls, fire off some emails, and re-construct justifications for these Marines' CARs, I'll be happy to fix it on the submission once you can get the info emailed to me. However, this has to become high-priority to all involved and needs to get knocked out as quickly as possible because this has been hanging out in 3/1's IAPS account for quite a while now. I'd like to get this off 3/1's plate in the next few days. If the juice is no longer worth the squeeze, please let me know and I will just remove it from IAPS altogether. For everyone's SA: -Maj Luke McConnell was Kilo Company Commander when this action took place -Capt Adam Mathes was Kilo Company XO when this action took place -Will Kallop (now civilian, formerly 1stLt) was the platoon commander for a portion of the Marines involved in the action that day -Mrs. Linda Brown works in 2d Mardiv G-1 Awards section -Maj Griffin is current 3/1 battalion XO -Lt Merjavy is current 3/1 S-1 officer -SSgt Whatley is current 3/1 S-1 chief -Capt Chamales is the middle-man Very respectfully, Capt Steven C.
