RE: Sallaum Lines

Haytham:  I attach the draft letter to Mr. Dignan.  He was not available when I called but I left a detailed message about Sallaum acquiring the vehicles from A Plus E.  I also asked for him to call me with a status on releasing the vehicles.  Will keep you up to date if he ever returns the call.  Please let me know if I need to make any changes to the letter. When I send the letter out I would detach from the attachment the fax cover sheet, cover letter and copy of the check unless you want me to keep these in.  Mary Jo

Subject: Sallaum Lines

Good morning Mary Jo:

Sallaum Lines paid $167,000 to settle a matter between them and A & E Plus, an automobile exporter because a Sallaum Lines employee mistakenly selected a consignee –Ellissa- as the receiving entity at the port of Benin, Cotonou.  Ellissa is a specially designated drug trafficker by the Department of Treasury.  That resulted in the seizure of 17 vehicles by Customs and Border Protection in Boston.  Sallaum Lines acknowledge their error and hired us to retrieve the vehicles.  I have this far been unsuccessful.  To maintain the business relationship with A & E Plus, Sallaum Lines decided to pay A & E Plus the price of the seized vehicles.  They essentially purchased them.  That settlement agreement is attached.  Sallaum Lines has asked us to work on getting the vehicles released to minimize their losses.  My point of contact at CBP is Mr. James Dignan in Boston.  I would like you to call him today and inquire into the status of the vehicles.  I also want you to draft a letter informing him of the settlement agreement and that A & E Plus has transferred the right of ownership to Sallaum Lines.  I am attaching some relevant documents.  The number for CBP along with the case numbers are on the election forms which are attached to my letter to CBP.

Thank you
