FW: Sexual Assault Awareness Month Events- Your support is needed

Gentlemen,

FYI. I just attended the march. There was a rape victim (22 years ago), Katie, who spoke to the crowd of approximately 100-200 Marines. She went through the "no means no" but also recommended a new standard, "yes means yes", and to look for enthusiastic participation. She even stated that if you ask, even after a woman throws up, and she is a willing participant who still wants to hook up, then you have covered your bases.

The 3d MAW CG, MGen Conant, and MCAS Miramar Station CO, Col Richie, spoke as well and stated that Katie had struck a chord with him (the CG). They both expressed that they believed in a no tolerance policy regarding sexual assault.

Good Morning,

Just a reminder the SAAM Walk/March is today 6 May 10 1330-1500. The walk kicks off at the parking lot in front of the Hub and ends at the parade deck where the CG will be briefing all in attendance. Please encourage all your personnel to be there not only to show their support in combatting sexual assault but as with the pledge that was sent out earlier last week, the unit who has the most participation in this event will be crowned the winner and funds will be donated to that units birthday ball fund. If you have any questions please let me know. Thank you.
