Hey Maigen,
Thank you for all your feedback! I apologize for not answering sooner, I took the GRE yesterday, which went pretty well. I am applying to do a part time Masters in Social Work at Catholic University. I figure, even if I don't end up using the degree, the subject matter has always interested me and there are many different options that the degree feeds into, from what I've heard. I guess as a positive from all this stuff, I've gotten to interact with a lot of therapists and psychiatrists and it has piqued my interest in the field of social justice/clinical social work.
I would love to meet up with you to go over any further advice on the job hunt (interview pointers etc). If you have time this weekend, let me know. My only commitment is my Saturday morning Women's AA meeting in Old Town Alexandria and Sonja wanted me to watch some Real Housewives with her, which can always be rescheduled.
Next weekend I'll be in Annapolis for my best friend's wedding then after that out of town for two weeks. I am definitely happy to meet up with you in early January if that works better for your schedule.
Dinner with the Agoulnik's was good, I think I probably spent a little too much time venting about 8th and I stuff, but Karin is a great listener. Ben and Tim both have an interest in Russia in common (Ben is a Nuclear Non-Proliferation Budget analyst for the white house budget office) so they talked about that stuff for a while, most of which was over my head.
That is exciting and great that you are going to Oklahoma. At least it will be warmer there, too. Sent: Sunday, December 05, 2010 18:10 To: Klay 1stLt Ariana B Subject: Re: Resume and saying hi
Hey Ariana,
I'm glad to hear that things are going better! Congrats on your 5k as well! It sounds like you are keeping busy which is great.
Yes, we did the marathon. It was a lot of fun and a great learning experience for both of us. We'll definitely do another one now that we know what we're doing!
How was dinner with the Agoulniks? I'm seeing Karin on Thursday and can't wait!
Your Christmas trip sounds amazing! I don't really have any recommendations for either place. Since you've never been and you'll only be there for a short period of time, I'd recommend seeing all the traditional touristy things. Just remember - check for strikes in Paris as they happen often, especially around the holidays! I don't think you can go wrong anywhere you go. I prefer the Montmartre area myself - I could shop and watch the artists paint for days. For free entertainment you can go to the Centre Pompidou to watch the street performers if it's not too cold. Buddha Bar also is a great place to go for good music, but you probably need a reservation a year in advance.
We'll be heading to Indiana for Christmas at Jim's parent's house. Then I'll be moving to Oklahoma to be with Jim. The next couple weeks are going to be a little hectic, but we could definitely try to get together. We're trying to rent our house out, so I've got to be out of it on the weekends so people can come see it. If you'd like to meet for coffee or something, let me know.
So...attached is the resume with my comments. Overall, I think it looks pretty good. Maybe we can meet next weekend for coffee and we can discuss in more detail. Let me know what you think.

Hey Maigan, Thanks it is going a LOT better. We spend an inordinate amount of time with our 2 puppies, but I recently did very well on a local 5k, like my job and the people I work with, and have been able to abstain from drinking which makes everything better. I am looking forward to getting out of the Marine Corps this Spring.
Did you guys do the Marine Corps Marathon?
We are having the Agoulniks over for dinner on Saturday on a random note.
Also, We are going to London for Christmas to visit Ben's parents then Paris for 3 days for New Year's. I have never been to either place so I am very excited. If you have any recommendations for what I HAVE to see while I'm in Paris I'd appreciate it! Are you guys going to go to Indiana or anywhere for Christmas?
Thanks for any feedback on the resume and if you have time (and our schedules don't conflict) before or after the holidays it would be great to meet up with you.

Hey Ariana,
I just wanted to check in to let you know that I haven't forgotten about your resume! Things have been a little hectic lately, and I've been out of town for the last couple weeks. I should be able to look at it and send it back to you this weekend with comments/edits. It might be helpful to schedule time to go through it together, so I can explain my comments. I do this a lot with job candidates I'm trying to help beef up their resumes before presenting them to clients.
Anyway - I hope you guys are doing well and that you had a great Thanksgiving!

Hi Maigen, Hope you are doing well, I am doing a LOT better. Things with Ben are awesome, the program I went through is great, and I am really enjoying my new job and there are not any mandatory drinking focused events. Ben got me a baby beagle puppy last weekend, she is 4 pounds and awesome (and our other dog needed a sister). Anyways, I am planning on getting out this May, I have attached my resume and wanted to get your feedback or any advice you would have for me in planning my transition if you have time. I have been attending job fairs and researching companies online. I am primarily interested in a federal government job or job with a Government Contractor.
Areas I would be interested in: Public Affairs, Human Resources, Protocol, High Level Executive Assistant, Office Management position.
Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.
