RE: AMEX airline baggage insurance

I don’t feel that strongly.  I was just highly disappointed.  I like to know what they’re covering if we’re going to pay for it even if it’s billed to the client.  Not a hot issue however.

Thanks, partner.  Good to know.  I think I was under the same mistaken understanding.  I would have done the same thing you did re: filing a claim.

On the other hand, it's $5.75 per roundtrip and we have always billed it to the client.  If luggage really did get fully lost, I think the coverage exceeds that of the airlines.  So it's de minimus, but we can disenroll, nevertheless, if you feel strongly about it.

The airline misrouted my bag on the way to California.  The delay was long enough -24 hours- that I had to go buy a suit, shirt, tie, socks, and belt.  I called AMEX to place a claim since we pay for baggage insurance.  They said that it actually has to be completely lost not just temporarily delayed.  I see no reason to carry such insurance.  I have never had a bag permanently lost.  And in any event, airlines provide coverage for bags that are permanently lost.  I thought that AMEX insurance provided coverage for expenses in the event a bag is delayed for a period as happened in my case.
