Dear Mr. Fras, During a conversation yesterday with Mr. Ahmed Yousef
Al-Rumaihi from your Embassy here in Washington, DC, he brought to my attention
your desire to develop a trial skills training program for your attorneys in
Qatar. He believed that we might be able to cooperate on developing a
program that teaches attorneys how to investigate, analyze, organize evidence,
identify issues, qualify experts, take and defend depositions and of course try
a case to a verdict. As you know there are significantly more
skills that are required to successfully try a case. The skills I
mentioned are provided as an example of what a trial skills program may include
but by no means limited to those. I recognize that the way we conduct our trials has
substantial procedural differences from the way you do trials in Qatar. Nonetheless,
there are definite commonalities to the art and science of persuasion and how
to prepare evidence and witnesses to prevail in presenting an argument at
trial. I became very excited when I heard about the possibility of
working together to develop a training program for trial attorneys in Qatar.
