LTC Chapin,

I am an attorney and former Marine Corps JAG. I represent Sam Hamama who I
believe you know through service in Iraq. The Government has charged Sam with
a false statement on an SF-86 and inappropriate contact with certain Iraqi
individuals in the nineties. These individuals it turns out may have belonged
to Iraq?s intelligence service. Sam gave me your name as a possible character
witness for him. If you would please email me back a phone number where I
might reach you to discuss whether you would be able to testify.

Thank you,

Haytham Faraj, Esq.

Gentlemen,

I got your names and contact emails from LTC Oliver. I am an attorney and
retired Marine currently representing Issam Hamama in a case in Federal Court.
Mr. Hamama has been accused by the U.S. Government of a conspiracy to pass
information to agents of the Iraqi Government. Mr. Hamama categorically
denies ever doing so. The U.S. Government?s sole evidence are questionable
Iraqi documents found following the invasion that refer to Issam Hamama as a
contact in the U.S. Mr. Hamama did contact the Iraqi UN mission during the
period to set up humanitarian relief trips and transport supplies to Iraq
during the period of the UN sanctions. These contacts are documented and
legitimate. They were not hidden or secretive and were done under the
cognizance of an existing humanitarian relief organization.

We will be going to trial in Mid June. I intend to offer evidence of Mr.
Hamama?s good character and his service while in Iraq in support of your
various units.

Major Moore, I may also call upon your expertise and experience in Iraq to
inform the jury about the veracity of IIS documents and agents.

I request that you respond with your willingness to testify and briefly tell
me what you would say about his character, loyalty, trustworthiness, fidelity,
and commitment.

I appreciate your cooperation and look forward to your responses. Mr. Hamama
is fighting for his liberty and reputation. He is in dire need of your
assistance.

Very respectfully,

Haytham Faraj, Esq.
