Ted:
Thanks for the update. The RLS is a "request for legal services." It is how
a commander requests that a prosecutor review the file and prepare charges.
Thinks of it as a legal tasking order.
I know Darren Erickson well. He's a reasonable guy and a former grunt.
Call me and I'll share with you the information he shared with me about this
case.
I'll be standing by for additional updates as they come up.
Vr,
Haytham

Haytham -
Here is some more significant and up-to-date information, concerning pending
SJA actions:
-The attachments represent eMail traffic, which has circulated over the past
two days (Sunday & Monday). However, the important paragraphs are right
here ('Cut & Pasted' from Msg sent DTG 12 0848U JUL 10 by LtCol D.J.
Erickson, USMC)
"The LSSS has the RLS and have not preferred charges yet. The current
status of the case would be pending preferral of charges. The hold up seems
to be the NCIS investigation itself. MFP submitted the RLS but the LSSS has
not preferred because NCIS has not completed the investigation for LSSS to
base charges on. The NCIS investigation is expected to be at the LSSS this
week...
I will stay engaged and let everyone know when charges are preferred. I
have discussed the issue with the LSSS OIC, the timeline of this thing so
far, and the Commander's concern with the Major being literally on hold for
the last year. He understands and will ensure prompt action when they
receive the NCIS investigation.

-Haytham, what is "RLS" ??
