character reference for Maj Pietro Scarselli

Good morning General:

I am an attorney and a retired Marine Corps officer.  I am writing because I represent Maj Pietro Scarselli in a matter.  Maj Scarselli has been accused of certain violations of the UCMJ; all of which I assure you are false.  He is accused of dereliction of duty for essentially failing to be aware of hazing that took place by one of his SNCOs against some of his Marines.  The same SNCO who engaged in hazing also stole several air conditioners and committed adultery.  The government gave him an NJP deal in exchange for his perjured testimony against Maj Scarselli.  That SNCO now alleges that Maj Scarselli knew about the hazing and that he fraudulently reported a PFT.  I have the entire unit including 3 officers who have provided sworn statements that Maj Scarselli ran the PFT in question.  Maj Scarselli gave me your name along with the names of other officers as character witnesses.  I request a few minutes of your time to inquire about your opinions of Maj Scarselli.  I realize that you are deployed.  Please feel free to communicate back to me in whatever means that are most convenient to you.  His court-martial is scheduled to begin on June 14.

Respectfully,

Haytham Faraj, Esq.
