Re: Opportunities for a new attorney to volunteer time with your firm

Hello Ms. Atwood,

Please email me the forms or call me on my cellphone (number below) if you need any information. If you prefer, I would be happy to come in to the office fill out the paperwork, but I will be going out of town today through Friday, so I would need to take care of that in the next couple of hours before I leave, or on Friday when I get back. Please let me know.

Thank you,

Neal and Faraj,

Thank you for the opportunity. I look forward to working with you.
Please let me know when you would like me to come in to get additional
information on the cases and work out all the other details of my
employment. As I mentioned on the phone, I am available tomorrow morning,
and have a very flexible schedule next week as well.

I am attaching two writing samples; Faraj, I know that you had wanted a
writing sample of 5 pages or less, so I am attaching one that is just a few pages long. It was an informal memo re fraudulent transfer law (UFTA), and the attorney asked me to turn it around as soon as possible, so it's not in a traditional legal memo format. I am also attaching for your reference, a
part of a much longer memo I did on trademark/copyright law that I feel
better represents my writing style. I'll also attach my resume, so you have
it all together on one email.

Please let me know if there is anything additional you need from me. I look
forward to talking with you soon.

Thank you,

Carolynn Beck

Carolynn,
We are interested and very seriously considering your offer. Give us
until next week to get back to you. We are growing and have some
logistical issues to sort out first, like office space. Are you
willing to work from home, at least temporarily?

Dear Mr. Puckett,

I am a SEAL wife who has been following the news on Petty Officers
McCabe, Huertas, and Keefe. I am emailing to find out if your firm has
any employment or volunteer opportunities for someone like myself. I
am a 2009 law grad from University of Southern California, barred in
California and pending in DC, with a strong interest in criminal law.
I worked in a firm in Los Angeles, Dreier Stein Kahan Browne Woods
George, LLP, and had an offer to return full time, but when the firm
dissolved in November of 2008, I decided to move to northern Virginia
to be closer to my husband. With the economy the way it is, it has
been tough finding employment as a new grad. I am reaching out to as
many people as I can, and in the meantime have decided to volunteer my
time doing clinics with the Legal Services of Northern Virginia.

I would greatly appreciate any advice, contacts, or employment
opportunities you may know of in the DC metro area, or anywhere in
Virginia. While I am primarily seeking paid opportunities, I am also
happy to volunteer my time if necessary. I have excellent legal
research and writing skills that I would love to put to good use
during this period of unemployment. I would be especially grateful for
an opportunity to help you in any way I can with your firm's work for
Mr. McCabe. As you can imagine, the case is very important to me
personally, so I would be eager to help with legal research, or even
just to observe your work as a learning opportunity.

Even if you do not have any opportunities available for me, I would be
grateful for any time you can take to give me advice or suggestions on
my job search. I'm attaching my resume for your convenience.

Thanks in advance for your time. I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely Yours,

Carolynn Beck.
