Dear Supporters of Loudoun SBDC:
We need your help IMMEDIATELY. The Board of Supervisors is considering a 28.14% cut in the County's funding of Loudoun SBDC. This comes at a time when the Center is providing more programs and counseling more clients than ever before!!
The stated goal of the Board of Supervisors is to increase the commercial tax base in order to lessen property tax increases. Loudoun SBDC helps build the commercial tax base.
We at Loudoun SBDC are asking YOU to help us tell our story NOW. Please call, write and fax each of the Supervisors (contact info below). We have crafted a sample message. Please adapt it to include a few words about how Loudoun SBDC has touched your business, has helped you in some way, and what it would mean to you if the Center's services were scaled back due to reduced funding. YOU can make a difference. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Robin Suomi

SUBJECT: RESTORE LOUDOUN SBDC FUNDING
Dear Supervisor ________________:
Cutting Loudoun SBDC funding is in direct conflict with your stated goal of increasing Loudoun County's commercial tax base.
Your investment in Loudoun SBDC directly increases the commercial tax base through generation of BPOL Taxes, Business Tangible Personal Property Taxes, Commercial Real Property Taxes, and Sales Tax. These additions to the commercial tax base come from start-up and existing businesses, from home-based businesses as well as companies expanding into retail/commercial space. These taxes come from established businesses with millions in sales as well as from second-income spouses and fully-employed workers who are starting a "second job" in financially difficult times. These taxes come from spin-offs in targeted cluster industries. In addition to adding to the commercial tax base, Loudoun SBDC helps create jobs in Loudoun County.
Loudoun SBDC makes a positive difference in Loudoun's small business community.
Restore Loudoun SBDC funding to at least the FY 2010 level so Loudoun SBDC can continue building the commercial tax base.
Sincerely,
