Re: Fwd: A website comment from Ron Gardner, MD

Thanks Neal.

I'll give him a call sometime.

Segment aired again tonight on Blitzer's show.  Was all good and included another follow up statement from Graham.

Here are some interesting statistics from NATO via some reading I've done on Max Boot and the NY Times.  4 of every 10 suspected insurgents are released as the first 96 hours comes to a close.  The remaining 6 go to NATO via the ANP, ANA and NDS.  Where do they end up?  No one knows the stats on those detainees.  In other words, your guess is as good as mine is as good as NATO's.

Other worthwhile trivia: (1) Afghanistan is bigger with more people and as some experts have pointed out, arguably more enemy fighters (2) the main detention center in Iraq at its height carried over 27,000 suspected fighters, conspirators, insurgents, etc while the main detention center on BAF at its height (now) currently carries only 700.

If anyone thought that the catch and release program was bad in Iraq, think again.  Afghanistan's running a catch and walk away program and has been for sometime with no apologies.
