Dear Capt. Bruzzese,
It was very nice to hear from you. I understand that you are in Guantanamo now. I hope all is well with you. I wish you a lots of luck and success.
Yes, thanks to Mr. Puckett's efforts and your support we may be able to get the desired ending to San's case and the Justice will prevail. We are not sure if his commander will decide to release him with an honorable discharge or repeat the hearing. If San goes to trial again, I believe your assistance would be very valuable.
FYI. San and us are working very hard to deal with his problem. The good news is, he is stabilized with the medication and he is not hearing voices. He started to take some history classes in college of Charleston. His paranoia is still lingering. Since he came home from Japan he did not make an attempt to meet a friend, but it may come with time. He was surprised when I said you send your best wishes to him. He wishes you the best of luck in your new assignment and sends his regards.
Sincerely yours,
Guven Sezginalp

Congratulations, and best of luck going forward. I am now
geographically far-removed from Okinawa, but please don't hesitate to
ask if I can assist with anything. I can be reached at this email and
also at laura.bruzzese@gmail.com.
Please pass on my best wishes to San.

Guven,
As I predicted, the Navy and Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals has
set aside San's conviction and sentence and dismissed his case. We won!
That means as of today, is no longer convicted and does not have a bad
conduct discharge. The court did, however, as it usually does,
authorize a rehearing. That means that, as we discussed on the phone,
the command in Okinawa can choose to order him back to Okinawa, charge
him again and take him back to a court-martial in Okinawa. We don't
know what they'll do, and it could take days or weeks for them to
decide. In the meantime, though, San rates full back pay and get his
rank back. He is now a LCpl on active duty, but still on authorized
appellate leave. We can discuss this tomorrow if you'd like. I'll let
you know as soon as I hear something from Okinawa.
Please give San my congratulations! I attached the court's opinion for
you to read.
Sincerely,
Neal
