Hospital and Physician Errors & "Never Events" Litigation Experts



A 1999 Institute of Medicine study that showed that as many as 98,000 deaths a year can be attributed to medical errors in the USA.
 
This finding has led to a recent Medicare policy change that has brought into critical focus the fact that hospitals and medical staffs have continued to fail to reduce medical errors. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced that it would no longer pay hospitals for the extra costs of treating injuries, infections, or other complications caused by preventable errors that the government formalized in the term, Never Events.
