DABOR Home & Garden Expo Brings Big Ideas, Great Deals and Home Improvement to You

Home and Garden Expo

The 2nd Annual DABOR Home & Garden Expo at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center - March 13 from 10 am until 5 pm -  has a line-up of attractions, exhibitors, seminars and great products and services.  Our Expo promises to attract nearly everyone who has cabin fever and even if the weather doesn't cooperate, DABOR is thinking Spring!  This is a must see for anyone looking for their next big home project idea or small fixer-up project.  With FREE admission and FREE parking, there is truly something for everyone.
The Expo will feature seminars, demonstrations and questions-and-answer sessions that will cover the latest home and garden topics and trends.  Attendees will learn tips and helpful hints from experts.   Homeowners who dream about fixing up, decorating, curb appeal, or outdoor living, we will have plenty of inspiration.
One of the highlights at this year's expo is the 1st Time Homebuyers Seminar presented by Michigan State Housing Development Authority.  They will have credit counselors on hand to help homeowners struggling with mortgage payments to help save "the dream of homeownership".

There will also be many other seminars from area businesses.

  • Window replacement - Atrium Windows presented by North Star Building Co.;
  • Ready, Set, Garden presented by English Gardens;
  • Brick Pavers presented by Michigan Pete Landscaping;
  • Is your Home Healthy presented by Kearns Brothers Inc.
DABOR, along with the University of Michigan-Dearborn Environmental Interpretive Center, will have children exploring and getting their hands dirty with "hands-on" learning experiences.   Over 4000 acorns will be given out to expo attendees to plant and learn how to care for your tree from seedling through to maturity.  This is a great time to "get your hands dirty".
The Expo isn't just to help show goers get ideas and information from our exhibitors but also a chance to raise money for the Firefighters Burn Drive and Dearborn Animal Shelter.   The Dearborn Firefighters Burn Drive was established over forty years ago.  The dedicated firefighters of the Dearborn Firefighters Local 412 along with their families' friends and volunteers have literally dedicated thousands and thousands of hours for one purpose, to help children who have suffered the ravages of a burn injury.  Friends for the Dearborn Animal Shelter (the Friends or FFDAS) was formed in 1993 by a small group of people who wanted to improve the conditions for the animals at the Shelter and promote their adoption into loving homes.

The show floor will be comprised of exhibitors from the following home and garden categories:  Construction/Remodeling/Renovation/Contractors, Gifts & Gadgets, Food & Beverage, Garden & Outdoor, Hearing and Air Conditioning, Home Décor, Home Entertainment/Products/Services, Kitchen & Bath and Recreation/Health & Wellness.

"People will not believe the quality and quantity of exhibitors at this expo.  We have worked hard to find the best products in our community that we knew people would be seeking for their homes and gardens," said Dana R. Holben, CEO of the Dearborn Area Board of REALTORS®.  "We are packing in so much in just one day," she added.
The latest show information will be posted on www.dabor.com/event and on the DABOR Home & Garden facebook fan page.
