Thanks for the prompt response. De: Haytham Faraj <haytham@puckettfaraj.com> Para: Luis Clemens Enviado: Mon Mar 15 22:57:29 2010 Asunto: RE: A story that may be of interest to you Itâs typical in charging. Forgive
me for putting it this way but itâs like throwing shit at the wall to see what
sticks. He didnât strike him and wasnât even there. They are connecting him
to the assault by calling it a conspiracy but even that is untenable.ÂÂ A
conspiracy requires a meeting of the minds. There is no evidence what so ever
that these guys sat down to plan and came to an agreement as to what they should
do. To be very clear, my client
assaulted no one. From: Luis Clemens
[mailto:LClemens@npr.org] Haytham, Many thanks. Weâve reviewed the charge sheet and are unclear about
one point. Charge III lists Corporal Siddiqi himself as assaulting Gul Mohammad
whereas Charge I says Lance Corporal Kolton and Corporal Turner committed the
assault. Just to be clear - did your client physically participate in the
assault on Gul Mohammad? Thanks. Luis From: Haytham Faraj
[mailto:haytham@puckettfaraj.com] Gentlemen: The charge sheet is
attached. I am still working on the contact information for the attorneys
in the other cases. From: Luis Clemens

[mailto:LClemens@npr.org] Mr.
Faraj, De: Haytham Faraj
<Haytham@puckettfaraj.com> Dear Luis and Michelle: I was a guest on your program after the Fort Hood
shooting. I am writing to see if youâre interested in possibly doing a
story on a client of mine. His name is Cpl Imad Siddiqi, USMC. Cpl
Siddiqi is Marine who was born in Afghanistan and immigrated the U.S. with his
family. He served two tours in Afghanistan. On his last tour his
squad came across a person (Mohamed Gul) on whom they had intel that he is a
Taliban operative and was intimidating villagers and possibly conducting
attacks on the friendly villagers. Cpl Siddiqi speaks Pashtu, Urdu, and
Dari. He began to interrogate Mohamed Gul but could get nothing from
him. He told his squad leader that Gul wasnât talking and that he was
lying about his activities. The squad leader ordered another Marine to
take care of Gul. The next day Gul showed up at the base accusing the
Marines of abuse. The unit charged all the Marines in the squad with
conspiracy, false official statement, and assault. Cpl Siddiqi suffers
from severe PTSD and has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. A
conviction could result in his deportation because he is not a citizen
yet. Imagine sending a U.S. Marine back to Afghanistan to live. His
family is distraught and poor. They live in Northern Virginia. They
came here to get away from Afghanistan and the Taliban, entered the U.S.
legally and are working on building a life here and becoming Americans.
Theyâre proud of their eldest sonâs service but know nothing about his legal
troubles because heâs afraid that they might become ashamed of him when they
learn that he is facing charges. I took on his representation pro bono to
offer whatever help I can. Let me know if this story interests you. Best regards, Haytham Faraj, Esq. PUCKETT & FARAJ, PC WASHINGTON DC× SAN DIEGO × DEARBORN 888.970.0005 Toll Free 202.280.1039 Fax The information
