Prohibition of Liquids in the US District Court for the District of Columbia

NOTICE
Effective Monday, April 5, 2010, all liquids, aerosols, and gels in excess of 3.4 ounces (100 ml) will be prohibited from being brought into the E. Barrett Prettyman Courthouse and William B. Bryant Annex. Visitors will be limited to up
to three separate containers (3.4 ounces each) per person.
Visitors attempting to enter with prohibited items will be asked to dispose of them in trash receptacles outside the building. Visitors may purchase beverages inside
the courthouse at the cafeteria or from vending machines. Visitors who leave the courthouse with a beverage purchased inside the courthouse will not be permitted to reenter with it.
The Lead Court Security Officers, who supervise the Court Security Officers conducting security screening at the entrances, are authorized to make exceptions if a prohibited item is determined to be necessary and required to
serve child care, medical, or other special needs. Visitors should advise a Court Security Officer at the screening station, if assistance is required. Jurors who display their jury summons and judges, court staff, and other building
tenants who display their building access cards are exempt from this policy.
