U .S. Senator Jim Webb ( Virginia) will support the reform of the U.S. Criminal Justice System during the Criminal Justice Section’s Annual Fall Institute on October 28 in Washington, DC. Senator Webb In 2009, introduced legislation that would create the first comprehensive national review of crime policy in 45 years. The Fourth Annual Sentencing & Reentry Institute to be held in Washington, DC on October 27-28 will explore three areas of interest to the sentencing advocate.  In the Sentencing Track, these include an update of federal sentencing policy which will look at developments from congress, the sentencing commission, the department of justice and federal defenders; cutting edge tactics in sentencing advocacy and the use of technology in sentencing; and an examination of new guideline amendments from the Sentencing Commission, and recent Supreme Court and lower courts decisions post Booker. http://www.americanbar.org/content/dam/aba/events/criminal_justice/2011fall_sentencing.pdf

 

On October 27th, we begin in the afternoon with the White Collar Crime (WCC) Town Hall Meeting and the Legal Educators Colloquium Research Round Table. The reception following on October 27th is a $75 ticketed event priced at $50 for those registering for the whole conference.  The WCC Town Hall and Legal Educators Colloquium both precede a reception at The Liaison Hotel that features cuisine by Food Network Channel Chef Art Smith.
