Re: Expert request

Ranae,
Hasn't been transmitted to me yet.  So I guess they're still waiting.  He's absolutely willing to come here on his own dime.
Thanks for working out the potential conflict issue with the new defense paralegal.

Neal,

As to Burke traveling to be evaluated I need to see what is actually
approved as far as the expert request.  I don't believe we officially have
that yet, do we?  The reason why is because they still have to determine
what pot of money Burke's travel, perdiem, lodging, etc... is going to come
out of.  If the Gov does not agree to travel Burke to be evaluated, then he
is probably going to have to take leave and travel at his own expense.  Or,
the approval will include time/expenses for the Doc to travel here to
evaluate him immediately preceding trial.  Wither way we need to know what
exactly is/will be approved.

Also, TSgt Metcalf is no longer the defense paralegal at Dyess.  She starts
back at the legal office next week and there is a new defense paralegal,
SSgt Andrea Dodd, that moved over.  I need to determine is SSgt Dodd is
conflicted from assisting with this case at all, since she came from the
legal office.  If so, I'm going to talk to my leadership and see if we can
get defense paralegal support from somewhere.

Ranae,
I've filled in the blanks.  Dr. Papcun has no "fee schedule."  He just
charges $265/hr and I've indicated that in the draft.  Have indicated 8 hrs
per day for trial time, and 8 hrs for pretrial consultation.  Do you think
that's sufficient detail for the purposes of this request?
Also, can you coordinate TDY orders for Burke to come to DC to meet with Dr.
Benedek when I can get hold of him and get his availability?
