Re: MC2 Sandy DeMunnik
Okay that makes sense I appreciate your taking time on mothers day to look at it and reply

Lisa N. It's my position that no one can get her the relief she seeks. She's not being processed out, she received orders - meaning she is still being utilized- and she is not being mistreated. No service member has a right to know ahead of time whether they will be allowed to reenlist. Reenlistments get denied for a variety of reasons. There is simply no legal right to continue serving. Even if they ( the Navy) say yes now, the service may change it's mind for a variety of reasons. It's likely that she will be allowed to remain once the Navy figures out how the new law affects her case. In the event, they decide that she must go because she is unfit, they will notify her, at which time she will have the right to challenge that decision. Until then, however, she has no recourse.

At that time I will let her know that I have sent her docs on to some retired Jags who are friends to take a look at it and would she mind if one of you contacted her. Please let me know who you want to follow up with her if this is the course of action she wants to take. But the way I read this it would seem she might need legal counsel like yourselves. Is that accurate or should she continue the path she is currently trying? I would like to know your opinion before I contact her since these are your kind of waters rather than mine. I think Dave Dickey (ret USMC) had Rob send it over to me because he knows I am involved in different areas and I know some influential folks. If you think it would be better served for her to continue with her congressman, that is fine, however it doesn't seem like our elected representatives get very much done so I don't hold out a lot of hope for that as a venue of success for her. I think lawyers are alot more scary to some folks than congressmen since lawyers actually get things done. (Albeit slowly in chicago due to the judge's leniency.)
