Gentlemen, I spoke with First Sergeant Beall a little longer today. It is my belief he will be an excellent witness. He speaks with clarity, conviction, and passion. You can hear in his voice he is appalled and angered by what NCIS did. Here is what he said: "I can briefly tell you: nothing happened. And I felt like if I didn't respond in the way they wanted they would not have let me go. I'd retract my statement in a heartbeat if I could. That's how I feel. I think I had to go against my own personal morals to make them leave. Those NCIS agents, particularly MSgt Periard, he gave me a bad taste in my mouth for NCIS in general for the rest of my life. That's how I feel about it. Actually, from what I remember, nothing happened. I found out later on once I went through the whole process because I've never been interrogated before. I've found out the interrogation process they've used is a typical street move, "Hey I know you're bluffing." I had never been through this before. I had a clean record, that's why I'm a first sergeant, that's the first time I ever had that done. It's a little bit intimidating. Put me in a police dept interrogation room. We sat there for seven hours. Didn't go and eat, said I had to use the head at one point and they let me. Did you ask for a lawyer? Didn't know I could. I'm sure they gave me my warning of rights. I was in Illinois. I was on INI duty in Illinois, where was I going to find a lawyer and postpone it for a long time? Felt like I wasn't going to get out of there. Did you witness Maj Card attacking any unarmed Iraqi's? No Do you believe Maj Card was the kind of person who would have done that? No. What makes you say that? My dealings with him was he was a professional infantry officer and he had the morals of an officer. That is to my belief that's not something he would have just gone off and done. Did you ever see Maj Card again? Never saw him again. I do know he was in an accident, but I didn't see him in the hospital. Talked to him at all since? No." R/s, Capt Baehr -----Original Message----- From: Haytham Faraj [mailto:haytham@puckettfaraj.com] Sent: Thursday, February 17, 2011 13:05 To: Workman Maj Adam J; Baehr Capt James S Cc: Ted card Subject: Witness interviews Gentlemen, Here are the first witnesses I'd like to speak to with along with their contact information.
