Re: Lawsuit

Mark,
Any way you can evaluate his claim to see whether it has merit and a chance of success?

Hey guys, I am forwarding you several e-mails Michael Yon sent to me. I think you know who he is (I know Neal and I have discussed him as he has been a big supporter of us in the Wuterich case).

Michael Yon is a former Green Beret, native of Winter Haven, Fl. who has been reporting from Iraq and Afghanistan since December 2004.  No other reporter has spent as much time with combat troops in these two wars.  Michael’s dispatches from the frontlines have earned him the reputation as the premier independent combat journalist of his generation.  His work has been featured on “Good Morning America,” The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, CNN, ABC, FOX, as well as hundreds of other major media outlets all around the world.

He is interested in pursuing a defamation case, which are usually handled on contingency. Let me know if this is something you are interested in handling or even working together on.

Mark

Mark,

Thank you for getting back to me.

One of the most popular milbloggers is a guy named Jim Hansen, aka "Uncle Jimbo" at the Blackfive website.  He hits a national audience at times on radio and television.

Some months back, he said on the G. Gordon Liddy show that I was:

1) Disembedded from US forces for OPSEC violations (untrue)
2) Disembedded from UK forces for OPSEC violations (untrue)
3) Disembedded from Canadian forces for OPSEC violations (untrue; I'd never even embedded with Canadian forces.)

This was damaging to me.

He's retired military as an E-8, so probably does not have big dollars.  He does (or should) have steady income from military pension.  He's about 46-years-old and full of venom.

He's been very deceptive with his audience, playing as if he has huge amounts of Special Forces experience.  Plays like an expert on Iraq and Afghanistan, but has never stepped foot in either country.  Completely deceptive.  And so when he turned his venom to me, he continued being deceptive and stepped far over the line.

What do you think?

Mark,

Am very interested in suing someone for defamation.  All is demonstrable.  However, don't think I need a super-charged attorney like you (with supercharged prices); can you recommend someone who you think can do the job?
