Question of the Week
What Words & Phrases are Resume Killers?
http://www.abajournal.com/weekly/article/what_phrases_are_resume_killers?utm_source=maestro&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=default_email
Earlier this week, a LinkedIn spokeswoman shared her top ten phrases to avoid in your resume, including gems such as "fast-paced," "results-oriented" and "proven track record."
Apparently these phrases are so overused, they're likely to be seen as empty and meaningless to potential employers fatigued by too much sameness. So many lawyers are out there looking for work that hiring managers are looking for ways to separate the wheat from the chaff, and a "dynamic, motivated team-player" could find that their resume has gone straight to the shredder.
This made us wonder...
What buzzwords would you advise jobseekers to leave out of their cover letters and resumes? And what's the most annoying phrase you've seen used in a resume?
Answer in the comments.
