Neal, Just got off the phone with SSgt Wuterich. He was contemplating taking leave IOT be left alone by his command to prep for trial. I don't think he should have to use leave days for that. Before I communicate our intent to his command I just wanted to confirm that his appointed place of duty during the week of the 23rd is wherever his attorneys are. Personally, I think the level of detail his major is asking for borders on asking for atty/client privilege. Adam, the writeups you gave me summarized the several different events that happened that day and the Marines involved in each of those events, but not what each Marine did as part of that event to specifically warrant a CAR. From what I understand, Mrs. Brown (2d MARDIV G-1 AWARDS) needs to have a paragraph on each individual on the matrix specifically outlining what that Marine did during that event to warrant a CAR. I can't do that because I just don't know. If you all can make some phone calls, fire off some emails, and re-construct justifications for these Marines' CARs, I'll be happy to fix it on the submission once you can get the info emailed to me. However, this has to become high-priority to all involved and needs to get knocked out as quickly as possible because this has been hanging out in 3/1's IAPS account for quite a while now. I'd like to get this off 3/1's plate in the next few days. If the juice is no longer worth the squeeze, please let me know and I will just remove it from IAPS altogether.
