This
might go a long way to solving the spouse personnel property tax

those of you interested--last year Congress passed a law stating that military
spouses can maintain the same state of residence as the member, even if they are
working in another state. My husband has been trying to get the kinks
worked out for quite some time and finally got an answer for Virginia.
Essentially, have your spouse fill out and file the attached form.
Unfortunately what you have to do to change your residency varies by
state so this only works for VA.

the VA Department of Taxation, it turns out I just needed to provide a VA-4 to
human resources. Since Florida doesn’t have a state tax, this just makes me
exempt from VA tax. I still need to file for 2009/2010 to get my refund. I
believe it is retroactive to the beginning of the tax year 2009. If you hear of anyone running into the same problems I had,
forward them this form. (It only works for VA) |
