[vapg9] CONFIRMED Mission for USAF Command Chief Master Sergeant (RET) Michael P Dewalt 25-26 JAN 2012 Dale City/Quantico VA

The Virginia Patriot Guard has been requested to stand for Command Chief Master Sergeant Dewalt "Duck" who will be layed to rest on 26 JAN 2012 in the Hallowed ground of Quantico National Cemetery.
 

Chief Dewalt was Born August 4, 1946 is Married to wife Sylvia for 36 years has 2 Daughters Amy and Victoria and 3 Grandchildren Meagan, Jake, Madison. He served 4yrs Active Duty Air Force in Lakenheath England with the 494th TFS as an Aircraft Maintenance Crew Chief. He served 30 yrs in the 113th D.C. Air National Guard as a full time Aircraft Maintenance Crew Chief, as the NCOIC for the wing safety office with numerous deployments to the Middle East, was recalled to active duty after 9/11 and retired as the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the 113th Wing. After retiring Mike Volunteered in the Meals on Wheels program providing meals to shut-ins and those physically impaired before falling ill himself and spent the last 4 years of his life battling with a degenerative muscle disease and respiratory ailments.  Mike was an outstanding father to his children and mentor to all the men and women who worked under him. The word no never left his mouth when he as was asked for help and would have given the shirt off his back, or the last 2 dollars in his pocket if it meant helping someone out of a situation.

This is a multi-part mission

Iron Horses preferred but cages always welcome. Escort protocol is as follows, large flags/small flags/no flags followed by cages. Weather is expected to be in the low 50s during day and low 30s at night, cloudy with no precipitation expected. Dress appropriately for the weather. Bring 3x5 flags if you have them.
