FW: MC2 Sandy DeMunnik

Gentlemen -
I haven't contacted this young sailor yet, but I will on monday as I only have her work email and phone.  At that time I will let her know that I have sent her docs on to some retired Jags who are friends to take a look at it and would she mind if one of you contacted her.  Please let me know who you want to follow up with her if this is the course of action she wants to take.  But the way I read this it would seem she might need legal counsel like yourselves.  Is that accurate or should she continue the path she is currently trying?  I would like to know your opinion before I contact her since these are your kind of waters rather than mine.  I think Dave Dickey (ret USMC) had Rob send it over to me because he knows I am involved in different areas and I know some influential folks.  If you think it would be better served for her to continue with her congressman, that is fine, however it doesn't seem like our elected representatives get very much done so I don't hold out a lot of hope for that as a venue of success for her.  I think lawyers are alot more scary to some folks than congressmen since lawyers actually get things done.  (Albeit slowly in chicago due to the judge's leniency.)

Thanks much -

   Good Afternoon Mr. Dickey,

Per your request to keep you updated, I am sending you this e-mail.  I am
currently working in the Pentagon and while en route here from San Diego, I
learned that the law changed and it is now against the law to
administratively separate a Sailor for a medical condition.  The Navy,
however, is dragging its feet and has notified me that my family and I are
to remain in limbo while they figure out how to handle the situation.

I have been in touch with a fit but unfit activist who has forwarded my case
to the Senate Arms Sub-committee working the issue, but I haven't heard
anything.  PERS seems to be stalled and I need to figure out a way to
jump-start them into action.  The last time we met, you mentioned that you
might be able to point me in the right direction once I was in DC.  If that
offer still stands, I would appreciate any advice you might have.  I have
attached the letter I sent my congressman and some supporting documents.

   I look forward to
   Very Respectfully,
