RE: U.S. v. Hamama; letters of recommendation for sentencing

Mr. MacKay,

Would you please remove my instructions from the letter?  What you have in there is fine but it should just have your words, not my questions or guidance on how to write it.  Thank you

Gentlemen,

I am writing to request additional assistance from you.  Issam Hamama is scheduled to be sentenced on May 19 of this year.  The judge may sentence him to probation up to about 60 months in prison for the charges he was found guilty of.  Mr. Hamama was found guilty of false statement for denying having a relationship with Iraqi officials and receiving compensation and for also failing to state that he had contacts with foreign officials on his SF-86.  He was found not guilty of spying and not guilty of having any foreign financial interests.

Your assistance to Mr. Hamama is critical.  I have cc’d him on this email and authorize you to directly engage him if you feel you need to ask him questions.

I have attached a form letter with some comments to assist you in writing to the judge.  I recommend you prepare your letters and send them to me to look them over for format and relevance.  Once we have them completed, I will ask you to swear to them and have them notarized.

I appreciate your continued attention to this case.

Very respectfully,

Haytham Faraj, Esq.
